“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8, NIV

About this time of year, we begin to see a change in the seasons. The weather begins to change and the days are becoming shorter. Even in Florida, where it is seemingly “always summer,” the heat is beginning to relent. In other parts of the country, perhaps, the first cold fronts are coming in from Canada. Life is always changing. Perhaps you are going through a “changing season” in life during this time.

Perhaps you are moving into adolescence from childhood, or from adolescence to adulthood. Or your “surroundings” are changing. Perhaps you have moved to a new home or city or things at work are changing. Maybe things are changing in your family – perhaps you have recently experienced the death of a loved one, maybe a child going off to college, or maybe a divorce has occurred. Any or all of these weigh on us and remind us that life changes.

All these things can seem like rising flood waters to us. Sometimes things seem out of control. It is at those times that we want to know what is sure, what is it that we can trust, what is it that we can hold on to. At those times, I need to remember the verse from Hebrews quoted above, “Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

I thank God that Jesus is the same. While everything around me changes and I change too, Jesus is still there for me and for you, loving us the way He always has. Jesus and His feelings and His thoughts never change about us. He went to the cross for us. He loves us – unconditionally!

QUESTION: Can you thank God today that His love for you never changes?
