“Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh,
so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt. But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I?'”

Exodus 3:10-11a, NAS

Have you ever felt like a nobody? You are not alone. Even Moses felt like a nobody! The question,”Who am I?” is probing. Later in the above passage the Lord answers the fear-filled questions of Moses by saying, “I Am has sent me to you.” (Exodus 3:14) So then, who am I? I am nothing but He is everything. The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. He has chosen you for His perfect plans, just as He chose Moses so many years ago.

A major part of the greatness of Moses was the view he had of himself. It was uncharacteristic of him to see himself as a leader but, as his life revealed, he became fantastic at listening to and obeying God.

As a young child with my Mother in a store, I became lost. I had been holding her hand and walking with her, but I let go briefly and soon took it again. What I did not know was that my Mom had stepped away and the hand I took was not her hand. We walked for a few paces and then I realized what had happened. My Mom was looking on with amazement, while smiling at my confusion. The point is, as soon as I looked up I knew I was following the wrong person. We really need to look up more often, lest we become comfortable with following after anyone. There is only one real God!

So, whose hand are you holding? Where are you going? The Lord knows exactly where He is going and He knows exactly where you need to go. Who are you? You are a creation of the King!

QUESTION: Do you doubt God or yourself? What is it that the Lord is revealing to you in your life? Take time to reread the call of Moses from Exodus 3 and ask the Lord to show you where He is calling you to serve Him and get ready to grow and be somebody with God.
