“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place, which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
Hebrews 11:8, NKJ (Read also Hebrews 9:16).

The hymn, “Wherever He Leads I Will Go,” could be the title of Abraham’s biography. His whole life was characterized by a faith that followed God. The Scripture tells us that God revealed Himself to Abraham and called him out to a land he did not know, to a place he had never seen, and promised therein to bless him. Abraham, in faith, responded to the call of God; and his faith was accounted to him for righteousness. Can you and I sing that song and live that message today? We cannot move forward by faith as long as we are bound to the past or rooted in the present. By faith we must look to the future with steadfast resolve; wherever He leads I will go.

“The life of faith is not a life of mounting up with wings, but a life of walking and not fainting…Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One who is leading.”
– Oswald Chambers

QUESTION: What was it that caused Abraham to follow God so faithfully? How could he simply pick up his family and go? Do we really mean wherever or whatever, Lord, when we sing the hymn on Sunday?
