“My lover spoke and said to me, ‘
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.'”

Song of Solomon 2:10, NIV

The following is an actual ad which appeared in “The Atlanta Journal” and was reported to have received over 150 calls in one day…

“SINGLE FEMALE, SOFT, BLONDE AND BEAUTIFUL… Seeks male companionship, very good looking, young girl who loves to play. I love long walks in the woods, hunting, camping, and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. Kiss me and I am yours. Call 123-4567 and ask for Lady Lisa.”

Can you believe that someone would be this desperate for love in our society? Yet when you look at our culture, it appears that we have lost the biblical art of romance. Gone is the ability to love in Christ-like love and invest a lifetime with one very special person. The love of Christ has the power to transform and change our lives. As is the case in the Song of Solomon, our plans change when the object of our love calls to us. When you walk in intimacy with Jesus Christ and you grow in His love you learn to know His gentle call, “Arise my darling, my beautiful one and come with me.” In our obedience to His call we enter into fellowship with Him and in that time together our love grows and our commitment is deepened. Instead of today’s “Want ad specials,” we have the real deal! Daily we can be called away by the Lover of our Souls into a quiet, personal time where we can share with one another.

It was reported the next day after this ad appeared in the Atlanta Journal that more than 150 men responded to the ad and found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an eight-week-old blonde English setter…

QUESTION: If true love is captured in the investment of time and the sharing of our lives with one another, then ask yourself the following question? “Do I have a daily quiet time with the Lover of my Soul?” He is calling and waiting for your answer.
