“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16, NIV

In 1977, NASA launched the space probe Voyager 1, a spacecraft designed to visit the outer planets of the solar system giving us views of their environment. Three years after its launch Voyager reached Jupiter. In 1980, it sped by Saturn. In 1986, it encountered Uranus. Several years ago, I contacted NASA to get the coordinates of Voyager. I was told that it had drifted below the elliptical plane of the solar system and would not encounter Pluto. In fact it was approaching the extreme outpost of our solar system at 4 billion, 700 million miles out.

Now listen to this: At the time I called, Voyager’s transmitter was emitting less than 1/4 of one kilowatt of power. You know what a kilowatt is? It is the measured power by which a transmitter emits a signal. Radio stations for example transmit thousands of kilowatts of energy. But Voyager was emitting 1/4 of one kilowatt. That is less power than a penlight gives off.

But are you ready for this? NASA scientists tracking Voyager could detect that faint, weak signal 4 billion miles away. Located in Houston, Texas is an enormous satellite receiver with tremendous receptive power. It is so powerful that it can hear that weak signal at the fartherest outposts of the solar system. The ability to communicate rested in the power of that receiver in Houston.

As a born again child of God, you have the capacity to communicate to God. Your communication link is prayer. You do not need a priest. You do not need a religious location. Through prayer you have direct access to God. You transmit a message to God.

This is not a problem. Because the power of prayer resides in The Receiver: God Almighty. Communication with God does not depend on your power to send the prayer. It depends on God’s power to hear the prayer…and He is all powerful!

QUESTION: Do you base the validity of your prayer on how you feel, or do you base it on the authority of God’s Word? Remember it does not matter how you feel, God’s Word assures you that He hears you whenever you pray.
