“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed,
for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10, NIV

Who of us has never had our stomach tied up in knots because of fear in some form or another? The job applicant filled with trepidation over the interview, the public speaker struggling to get the butterflies to fly in formation, (psychologists tell us one of our top fears is the fear of public speaking) the parent who is up past the curfew anxiously awaiting the teenager not yet home, or the patient facing the results of the biopsy. Fear is a fact of human existence.

But when we are called upon to face our fears we must apply the No Fear Factor! The child of God never faces fear alone. God is with us. With us through the fiery furnace, with us through the torrential waters of the storm, with us through the terror that flies by night, with us even through the valley of the shadow of death, so we need to fear no evil.(Psalm 23:4) Jesus promised His followers as He ascended to take His rightful place at the Father’s right hand in glory, “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

I heard Billy Graham once say, “There are over 365 ‘Fear nots’ in the Bible. That is one for every day of the year!” When “fear knots” threaten to hog tie your soul never forget your No Fear Factor. God himself is with you. Right now, read the words of assurance God offered Isaiah in the text above. Thank Jesus that He is with you and will strengthen you and help you with this day’s challenges.
