“By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood,
lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land,
whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.”

Hebrews 11:28-29, NKJV

God has a plan and a purpose for your life. You have probably heard that statement on more than one occasion. The question with which many of us struggle is “How can I know and do the will of God in my life?” The starting place is faith in God’s goodness and surrender to God’s guidance.

God does not hide His will from us so as to confuse us, but rather accomplishes His will in us as we walk step by step in faith. We often want to see the big picture, but God has chosen to allow us to trust Him one step at a time along life’s pathway. We live life forward by faith, but we learn life backwards – by God’s faithfulness. As we step forward by faith, we can expect to face challenges, testing, obstacles, and opposition, but each of these merely provides us with an opportunity for God to demonstrate His faithfulness to us.

Moses faithfully led God’s people, Israel, forward from Egypt and then found that He faced an even greater challenge: leading them forward through the Red Sea. The evidence declared this to be a mission impossible, but when faith meets God’s providence, all things are possible.

Faith struggles with fear. When we step forward in God’s mission challenge for our lives, we can expect that it will not be long before we face and cross a Red Sea. Fear has been described as false evidence appearing real. By sight, we see the difficulty of our mission, but by faith, we see the possibility. The mission of our life is to know and do the will of God.

“The greatest knowledge is to know the will of God,
and the greatest achievement is to do the will of God.”
