On November 4th, over 300 golfers who attended our 28th Annual Golf Tournament were served dinner by some of our residential program boys at one end of the tent and by our residential girls at the other end.  The smiles on the children’s faces said it all.  They were serving – not because they had to serve – but because they chose to serve.  These children wanted to express their gratitude to the many donors who were ultimately there to help them.  They were able to express their thankfulness through service.

“It’s not about me!”  is a line that the children in our residential program hear often.  We stress that God created everyone with unique gifts and abilities that are to be shared.  He did not create us to live for ourselves.  He created us to glorify Him; and it is our choice to strive to be like Him.  Jesus came to serve (Mark 10:45.)  As we seek to grow and become more like Christ, we need to learn how to live a life of service.

We are so proud of them!  They got it!  Lesson learned.  Joy achieved.  This was a great step in their journey of changing their behavior, learning more about the heart of Christ, and understanding who they are in Him.  Go God!

“Give yourselves completely to God – every part of you … you want to be tools in the hands of God, to be used for his good purposes.” (Romans 6:13b LB)

Led by Mario Padrino of Padrino's Cuban Cuisine, the boys learned how to serve with with all their hearts.

The girls served with smiling faces under the leadership of Cookie Padrino.
