“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
Hebrews 11:3, NKJV

People often speak of what life is like in the “real world.” But the Bible declares that the real world is the world that is unseen. In fact, we understand that what we see has all been made out of that which we cannot see. We sometimes say, “seeing is believing;” and yet, in reality, it is by believing that we are enabled to live above “see level.”

It seems as though what we see is the cause of how we feel. We become depressed and despondent in life because there are times when we appear trapped by the things we see. Yet, the eyes of faith enable us to envision God’s power, strength, and work in and through even the most trying of circumstances.

Faith challenges us to live above “see level.” The Apostle Paul told the church at Corinth, “We walk by faith and not by sight.” You say that sounds good, but it also sounds very unnatural; unnatural, with the exception that our faith is, in fact, a response to the light of hope and the ray of truth-the Word of God.

It is through the marvelous and miraculous revelation of God in His Word that we receive sight. We see and understand the work of God in creation. We know and experience the love of God in salvation.

The real world is the unseen world where God dwells. We are encouraged therefore to, “Set your affections on things above and not on things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:1)

“Faith is the sight of the inward eye.”
