“Trust in the Lord…Fear the Lord…Honor the Lord.”
Proverbs 3:5-9, NIV

If trusting the Lord places one in the position of blessing, then how can one know that one is trusting Him? How can one be certain? God never tells someone to do something that He does not give one the ability and the instructions to accomplish. Trusting God is not some mere token confession that one makes from time to time. Trusting God must be a complete and total reliance upon the promises of God. Everyday one will face choices of relying upon one’s own understanding or trusting in Him.

One must choose to trust God. When one comes to the place in life where the line is drawn and the question is – “Can I trust God?” your answer determines whether you grow beautifully or shrivel spiritually. The issue is “What am I going to choose?” When God told Noah to build the ark, it had never rained. Noah chose to trust God. Abraham left everything behind because he chose to trust God. Joseph went through many trials, but through them all, he chose to trust God. Joshua was faced with a decision one day and he had to say “Choose this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15) Do you have this kind of trust in the Lord?

One can prove one’s trust in Him. Trusting Him is real when one acknowledges Him, when one departs from evil, and when one honors the Lord with one’s time, talent, and treasures.
