“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” 1 Corinthians 12:7, NIV
When you placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your eternal Savior, God forgave all the offenses you committed against him, adopted you into His royal family and gave you an inheritance that He, himself, stands guard over in heaven for you. God also filled you with the presence of the Holy Spirit, who has energized you for special service to God and ministry to everyone your life touches. This makes you special to God both relationally and functionally.
The Holy Spirit of God gifts some of Christ’s followers for acts of service to his church and to non-believers whom God is reaching out to. He gifts others to serve as teachers of the Bible. The Holy Spirit gifts others with a powerful ability to bring encouragement into the lives of others. Still other believers are gifted with an amazing capacity to share the good news about Jesus Christ, motivating non-believers to cross the line into eternal faith and forgiveness. Every believer is gifted by the Holy Spirit to perform some act of service or ministry for the “common good” of people at large. (For a more complete listing of spiritual gifts read 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 & Romans 12:4-8)
You are no different! If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, the Holy Spirit has also energized you for acts of service and ministry. God has a purpose for your life and has special people whom he is reaching out to that he desires you to impact with your life. This makes you special not only to God, but to potentially hundreds of men and women who are still seeking meaning for this life and hope for the life to come.
