With Christmas right around the corner, the girls’ residential team customized their devotional time on the real meaning of Christmas. Little did they know that God was working overtime in the hearts of two girls.
On Tuesday, December 6, as behavior specialist, Julianna, wrapped up their Bible study, Keilyn was so moved. She immediately approached her house mom for more answers. After spending some one-on-one time together to get some questions answered, Keilyn was certain she wanted to give her life to Christ. She shared how she’s been trying to work up the courage to “go forward” at church every Sunday, but hasn’t been brave enough on her own so she wanted to get it settled. As she prayed to accept Christ and make Him Lord of her life, she also thanked God for using Sheridan House to help her make changes and for learning more about Him.
While all the girls were decorating Christmas cookies for their teachers on Thursday, Maria met with Julianna. She mentioned how she has been saying and doing the right thing, but still felt a void in her life. Julianna explained that good works are well meaning, but they can’t fill that void. The only thing that can is a personal relationship with Jesus. Maria expressed her desire to follow Christ and prayed to accept Him as her Savior.
The peace and joy Keilyn and Maria are experiencing is obvious to their families and the other girls in the home. This Christmas, they have given the greatest gift they could to Jesus…their hearts. Join us in praying for them as they seek Him and share their stories with others. God is doing His work, the angels are rejoicing, and the kingdom is expanding!
