“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone
who comes to him must believe that he exists and that
he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6, NIV

My son, Hal, was only two years old when I wanted him to jump off the diving board to me. It is a dad thing I guess. I helped him up the steps and then dove into the pool as he walked slowly to the end of the diving board. He stood there nearly 5 feet above the water and I coaxed him, “come on, Hal, jump. Daddy will catch you.” To my amazement, he looked directly at me and then dove in (head first) just like he had seen me do! I was pumped, everybody in the pool area was clapping, and I made sure they all knew he was my son. It is an incredible feeling when a child trusts you. I was excited because although he did not know how to swim, he believed me more than he believed his fears. You see because he acted on his belief, he actually made me happy.

Would you like to make God happy and please Him? Whenever I read Hebrews 11:1 I am reminded God gives me the opportunity to make Him happy. I can please him when I trust him, when I step out beyond my abilities and trust His abilities. We all have fears and faith is not the absence of fear. Faith is choosing to believe God rather than our fears. Faith is choosing to walk toward the voice of God when you cannot see the outcome.

In my story I was not the only one excited, Hal was really excited also. That is what happens in the Christian walk, we step out and trust God and it pleases God and we feel pretty good also.

QUESTION: What was your last big step of faith? Is there something right now you need to step out in faith and trust God with? What is your next step?
