“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts;
and though all its parts are many, they form one body.
So it is with Christ.”

I Corinthians 12:12, NIV

We are the body of Christ, an actual part of Jesus in the world. Just like an arm, a leg, an eye or an ear, each person plays an important role on behalf of the whole body. If you do not play that part, then it will not be played at all. The body of Christ will suffer if you do not do your part. But what is your part? What is your role? What do you do to make this body of Christ strong and healthy, vital and dynamic, in the world today? The body has an upward reach in worship, an inward reach in our spiritual nourishment, and an outward reach to people who do not know Jesus.

It is like a great football game. God has trained you and has been equipping you. It is important to play, but so many of the players are sitting on the bench. We need you on the field as part of the team. Christianity is not a spectator sport.

There are so many places and parts to this body, but we will never be the body of Christ until everyone is a part of it. So everyone sitting on the bench needs to step out on to the field. It is time to play the game. We live in an important time and the world is in a critical state. Never before in the history of our Country has so much been at risk. Maybe in the past there were times when Christians could simply be comfortable. But today the followers of Jesus all have a part to play.

QUESTION: What part of the body has God equipped you to be? Are you still sitting on the bench knowing what your position on the field is?
