and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us
by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given
us very great and precious promises, so that through
them you might participate in the divine nature and escape
the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
2 Peter 1:3-4, NIV
A song I know heralds triumphantly:
Every word, every line!
Given to me in love divine,
Every promise in the Book is mine!”
The Apostle Peter knew how faithful Jesus was in honoring the Word of God. He had experienced His faithfulness personally at the point of his greatest failure. Following his denial of Jesus, Simon did indeed return to his Lord to be used mightily in strengthening his brothers, experiencing fully Jesus’ promise of Luke 22:32: “But I have prayed for you Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Simon Peter became the central herald of the living Gospel at Pentecost where thousands declared Jesus their Lord and Christ! No wonder he declared with such exuberance the “very great and precious promises” by which we “participate in the divine nature.” He was living it! And so can you. Nothing is too hard for God and His divine power has given us everything we need! The scripture is for us a storehouse of the unsearchable riches of Christ. Claim your inheritance. Believe and receive the fullness of His provision for you in Christ.
QUESTION: Right now, can you thank Him that Christ is your all in all, your key to a life full of promise?
